What to Expect From a Couple's Photoshoot: A Full Walkthrough

If you've never done a couple's photoshoot before, there's a good chance you're picturing something between a fashion magazine shoot and a dentist appointment. Stiff poses, a photographer barking instructions, and you two standing there wondering what to do with your hands. Good news: it's nothing like that. Here's exactly what happens, from the first message you send us to the moment your photos land in your inbox.

Step 1: You Get in Touch

You send us a message with your dates, where you're staying, and what kind of shoot you have in mind: a honeymoon session, an anniversary, a proposal, or just a "we're on holiday and want proper photos for once." No pressure and no commitment at this stage. We'll check availability and answer any questions you have.

Step 2: We Plan the Details Together

We'll talk through the best time of day (usually golden hour, because the light is doing you a huge favor), the best location based on where you're staying, and what kind of look you're going for. Romantic and relaxed? Playful and candid? A mix of both? You don't need a Pinterest board of 60 poses. A rough idea is plenty, and we'll handle the rest.

Step 3: What to Wear and Bring

Pick outfits you feel comfortable in and that move well. Soft, neutral tones and light fabrics photograph beautifully against beach scenery. Bring a light layer for the breeze, a backup outfit if you like, and sunscreen (applied about fifteen minutes before, so it isn't shiny on camera). That's really it.

Step 4: The Day of the Shoot

We meet you at the agreed spot, usually about an hour or two before sunset. We start with a quick, friendly chat, because nobody relaxes when a stranger points a camera at them in silence. Then we ease into it.

Step 5: The Shoot Itself

This is the part people worry about most, and it's usually the easiest. Instead of stiff, held poses, we give you simple prompts: walk along the water, whisper something to each other, share a joke, spin, hug, laugh. Most of the best shots happen in between the "official" moments. We guide you gently when needed, and mostly we just let the two of you be a couple while we catch it.

A session usually runs around an hour. Long enough to get a real variety of shots, short enough that nobody gets cranky or sunburned.

Step 6: A Little Variety

During the shoot we'll move between a few different looks: wide scenic shots where the two of you are small against that gorgeous backdrop, closer portraits, candid moments in motion, and a few quiet, intimate shots. This gives you a full set of photos rather than fifty versions of the same pose.

Step 7: Editing and Delivery

After the shoot, we go through the photos, select the best ones, and edit them carefully for color, light, and mood. You'll receive your final gallery within the timeframe we agreed on beforehand, ready to download, share, print, or frame.

Common Worries (and the Honest Answers)

"We're not photogenic." Almost everyone says this. It's rarely true, and it matters much less than you think when the direction is relaxed and the light is good.

"We don't know how to pose." You don't need to. We tell you what to do, and it's usually something simple like walking or talking.

"What if it rains?" Mauritius is generally sunny, but if weather gets in the way, we simply reschedule to a day that works for both of us.

"What if we feel awkward?" You will, for about five minutes. Then it passes, and you start enjoying yourselves. That's usually when the best photos happen.

The Bottom Line

A couple's photoshoot is basically a nice evening out that happens to produce beautiful photos. No stress, no stiff poses, just the two of you somewhere gorgeous with someone who knows how to make it easy. Reach out with your dates and we'll take it from there.
